LZ 127 ZEPPELIN were the most important / successful kind of Zeppelin airships ever.

They were real historic mile-stones which were never reached again.

Between 1900 and 1938 the zeppelin company GmbH constructed more than 100 airships in 27 different variations.

The biggest one was in 1938 LZ 129 with a length of 245 meters, dimension of 41,2 meters and volume of 200.000 m3.

4 Daimler diesel engines with 4.200 PS moved the airship with a highest speed on 131 km / hour

and a distance reach of 12.000 kilometers to Japan, North and South America for transport of passengers, post and freight.

This is one of Graf Zeppelin's most popular models.

It is very tastefully retro-styled and it features a Swiss Ronda quartz movement with a 2nd time zone (separately adjustable).

I love retro. I love retro watches with analogue displays, high domed glasses and italicised arabic numerals. Ever since I worked with a guy who was well into retirement age and had a watch that he must have had most of his life, possibly even an 18th or 21st birthday present from his parents, that exuded retro cool in spades I have wanted a similar looking one. I have a girlfriend in Germany. I have also since being with her wanted a watch with dual dials so that I could have one set to UK time and one set to German, the main hands to wherever I currently am and the alternate hands to the other - saves me having to think about adding or subtracting an hour, not difficult, just a nuisance. When I was idly window shopping on the internet and happened to see this watch with its dual time dials and looks as retro as its Zeppelin namesake, I knew straight away I had to have it. I haven't been disappointed.
First off, it is a pretty substantial piece of kit, it has a large diameter and is as thick as the average chronograph watch, but that does mean the main dial is very clear to read and the secondary one is not too bad either, even with my poor eyesight. It has a date function just below the top of the dial consisting of two individual digits in independent windows, not something I can honestly say I have seen before, but it looks okay and seems to work fine. There are two adjusters, again nothing fiddly or insubstantial about them, the one at three o'clock being for the main time setting and the date, the one at four being for the secondary dial - if you want good old fashioned analogue simplicity, it is right here, I was perfectly able to set everything without recourse to the manual. The strap is a nice, quality, crocodile skin style padded calfskin leather one (hand made in Germany no less) with a small logo stamped into the buckle to add a touch of class. Although the watch looks very retro, the movement is quartz - not a problem for me, and in the few weeks I have had it I have seen nothing to suggest it is anything other than 100% accurate.
To sum up, what you get for your money is a cool looking, German built timepiece, retro in appearance but with the advantage of modern technology and, frankly, well worth the price.
